We are still waiting

Yesterday was the deadline for having our financing in place. Which we did not meet, so we had to file an extension. I haven't heard back yet, so I don't even know if it's even been accepted or not.

As far as the financing goes, what a slow process for a commercial deal. We get a question, turn it around in a few hours, maybe a day, and then wait days and days and days for the next question. It's ridiculous.

We hit a speed bump late last week, that slowed us down to almost moving backwards.

I'm ready to put my fingers in my ears and start screaming blah blah blah I can't hear you. I almost don't even want to deal with this anymore. I want the vendor, the RE agent and the mortgage broker to deal with all this stupid crap. Just either say No, or give me the damn papers to sign.

I have enough to worry about once it's approved to have to worry about the getting there.

The life span of Canadian Broadcasting.

From a consumers point of view of course.

So today CBC announced it was going to lay off 800 employees. I guess they can't make a go of it with Canadian content. I wonder if they are kicking their asses now for giving up the HNIC theme?

As an aside, they are increasing funding to the CBC.ca website. It's about time the media outlets started paying attention to what's going on around them. I hope it's not too late.

Meanwhile the CRTC is in hearings trying to force Canadian content down our throats.

I know we have to support Canadian Arts. I know this. But apparently a lot of Canadians don't realise this. They would rather be entertained, than poke their eyes out with a hot poker, all in the name of Canadian content. And how can I blame them. Entertainment is just that. Entertainment. It's supposed to be fun. Do we have to be dragged kicking and screaming to do our civic duty?

Why are these companies and government agencies fighting the losing battle of the status quo, instead of being innovative and coming up with new and unique ideas.

Canadians can not compete with budgets of the big US. Why bother trying. We need to come up with something else.

Umm. That's sounds kind of defeatest, and that's not really the point I was trying to get at. Maybe the point is to accept that we can not win. So we either have to accept second place and work within those confines, or we need to come up with another plan.

But forcing the consumer to buy into something that they just don't want is, well defeatest.

Anyway, now my post is rambly and doesn't make sense, but there are too many words to delete.

Muahahaha. See what you will be stuck reading if the CRTC, get's their canadian content way.

Take that Anderson Cooper.

She's off...

Daughter left yesterday on her European Vacation. Her and 50 of her classmates and 6 soon to be in a mental institution, chaperones. Gone for 10 days.

I know she's going to have the time of her life, but because I'm the Mommy, I'm allowed to have irrational fear. Of plane crashes, terrorists, murderers and rapists. Pick pockets. Her going to jail for stepping in a flower bed (This is a Star Trek reference, that haunts me. LOL). Her getting separated from her group. Her running out of money and not being able to pay for her overweight luggage. Her running out of money and not being able to pay for some stupid airport fee. Her losing her passport. Her losing her money. Her getting into a tiff with her friends and not having a good time.

I think I'm the one that's going to end up in a mental institution.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

On a little break

We met with the mortgage broker last night and now we wait.

We go on Sunday for our inspection.

And then we wait some more for someone to give us some money.

Can I have your maintenance department please…

For YEARS, I have been getting phone calls like this. It’s maintenance, or toner, or something. You only get scammed once and yes I did, in the early ‘90’s, so that tells you how long these types of company’s have been around.

The toner guy calls and says that he is your toner supplier and that he needs to send you your toner. You say OK, he asks for your machine make and model and you give it to him and then he sends you your toner with an outrageous bill.

Consider yourself SCAMMED.

Flip to 11 or 12 years later, and I come to work for this company. We are a small company and so we don’t have set departments like HR, IT, Maintenance, etc. So you have to ask for a little bit of information from the caller in order to put them through to the right person.

It didn’t take long before the calls started.

Scammer: “Can I speak to your maintenance manager please”
Me: “We don’t have a maintenance manager, what is the nature of your call?”
Scammer: “I want to speak to whoever is in charge of your maintenance”
Me: “You will have to be more specific, so that I can direct your call to the proper person”

By this point scammer gets pissed and either hangs up, calls me a name, or tells me off.

So I get the call this morning.

Scammer: “I’m looking for Chester”
Me: “I’m sorry, we don’t have anyone here by that name”
Scammer: “Oh, maybe I have the name wrong, I was speaking to him the other day, the maintenance manager”
Me: “What company are you calling from?”
Scammer: “XXX”
Me: “And what is the nature of your call?”
Scammer hangs up and I laugh my ass off.

IDIOT.

So exciting

So we are on the hunt for the campground and we found one that we are falling in love with. It is just so so cute. And you can tell that it has been lovingly maintained for years.

It's beee u teee full.

I twitpic'd a summer picture of it earlier, if anyone was watching.

In order to finance this project, we have to sell our rental property. Which is ok. We have bigger and better plans. :-)

We have two realtors on the go at the moment. P is selling the house, and A is working on the campground.

Luc called a few minutes ago.

"What time is A coming over tonight?" (To get us to sign the offer for the campground)

I said I don't know that it might have to wait until tomorrow because the realtors are still going back and forth with requests for information.

"Why?"

"Because P is coming over at 9"

Woohoo. Freaking AWESOME.

We have an offer on the house.

Hopefully it's not. a low ball offer that I'm famous for.

*Doin' a happy dance*

Panic is starting to set in.

We are putting an offer in tonight.

Are we really going to be able to do this?

Are we getting in over our heads?

Are we going to fall on our faces?

Are we going to lose our house?

Is there really a market out there.

Are we going to regret it?

Do we have what it takes?

Oh my nerves.

What's up

I'm not much of a blogger, but I'm trying to get better because I think at some point in the near future, blogging is going to be condusive to earning money.

Well, not really, but in this day and age of social media and the internet it couldn't hurt the prospect of getting customers. Right?

Why will I need customers, you ask?

Some people know already. But I'm now putting it out into the blogosphere.

My husband and I are looking to buy a campground.

The plan is to run a campground for 6 months and then vacation for 6 months down south.

The 6 month vacation isn't going to start for a few years yet. We have to wait until the kids are all done school, and wait until we have built up a campground to the point where there is enough money to actually do that.

So, we are looking at lands now.

Just thought I would put that out there, in case I need to find some suckers errr customers that like camping.

Wish us good luck. We will know within a couple of months.

Oh so very blah

I have the blahs today.

I don't feel like doing anything. My usual internet haunts are not interesting to me today.

Everything is broke.

The radio keeps cutting in and out. Blackberry internet keeps cutting in and out. Work internet is just out.

We've been looking at business opportunities and people won't call us back, or they make excuses, or they just plain old go on vacation and don't tell us. That is a freaking piss off, let me tell you. I'm trying to spend a couple hundred K, and I can't get a freaking phone call.

Blah.

I am geek, hear me roar.

I'm doing a little happy dance.

I finally figured out how to post pics from my phone to twitter.

Now I just need to figure out how to post them here.

I love my phone, but I'm not thrilled with Telus. They have the MMS feature blocked, so you can only email pics. BOO!

Downtown Halifax...

Is freaking nuts. Holy cow. The snow is not cleaned very well, which leaves some of the side roads barely two lanes.

We got stuck in a little traffic jam because someone wanted to turn left into a driveway that was blocked by a car behind me, but I couldn't go anywhere because there was a car parked on the side of the road and another car coming towards me, leaving me nowhere to go. Finally the left turner realized what was going on and drove straight.

Anyway. Daughter is at Park Lane again this afternoon for Junior Achievement, and I wasn't about to spend another two hours in the hell hole called Park Lane.

What an awful mall it is. Do you know, there is not one store there that sells magazines. The last time I thought I would hit the coffee shop and peruse a magazine, while I waited for her. That plan was soon foiled. If it was timed right I could have gone to a movie, but that wasn't going to happen either. So I spent the two hours walking aimlessly in the halls of doom and gloom.

This time I thought I would drop the girls off and hit a real mall. Problem was I didn't know where any of them were in relation to where I was. So I drove aimlessly until I arrived here. Another vacant mall. I'm not too far now from Bayers lake, but by the time I get out there. Find a parking spot, I'd have to turn around again and go pick the girls up. I think I will avoid the hassle and go back to Park Lane, grab a coffee and surf the net from the palm of my hand.

Oh wait. I don't have any cash. I'm not even going to bother looking for an RBC bank machine. I'll pay the extra fees and use the TD machine that's right here.

Wish me luck on my trek back to Park Lane.

I can't wait to get back to Dartmouth.

hice hice baby

Holy cow that was a lot ice to scrape. We had yet another snow storm yesterday. Not that I'm complaining. Cha-ching.

About 4:30 it turned to freezing rain. THAT. I'm complaining about. Yuck. What a mess. I got home from work last night about 5:30 and left my car. Over the next couple of hours it was sort of a snow freezing rain mix. Hind sight, of course is 20/20. I should have gone out and cleaned the gook off my car last night. I had an inch of ice on my car this morning.

It's only 9 am and I need a nap.

Groundhog day

Groundhog day.

Just a quick note to say that Shubeacadie Sam saw his shadow this morning, so 6 more weeks of winter.

The farmers almanac also said there was going to be three major storms in February.

That's fine by me. As long as the temperature stays in the single minuses, which is what snow usually means, then have at it. Plus it's good on the pocket book too.

Expect the worst...

So here I sit at work. Twiddling my thumbs, errr curve. We are so excruciatingly slow these days. I'm dreaming of camping days, and with reserve campground owner days. Luc is so gung ho about this. But I'm thinking this might not happen this year.

Expect the worst and then be surprised with the good news.

Well, that, and the prospect scares the bejezus out of me. This is one huge leap. HUGE.
